Hallmarks of a Dance Degree from George Mason University
We foster an environment for our students that is supportive and challenging. Strong dance technique, intensive theory, guest artist residencies, abundant performance and creative opportunities define the dance program at George Mason. The School of Dance is acknowledged as one of the premier institutions offering professional preparation for a career in dance.
We offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree focused on modern/contemporary dance performance and choreography. In addition to their general studies, School of Dance students take courses in technique, choreography, anatomy and kinesiology, somatic studies, dance history, teaching principles, and theater production.
Our highly selective program requires an audition either on campus or in New York and all dancers must be accepted to George Mason University as well. The capstone course, Senior Synthesis, prepares dance majors to leave Mason with practical strategies for their futures in the field. After four inspiring years, graduates are prepared to take on the next challenge.
