Intensive training, immediate performance opportunities, and the resources of a major university — if you want it all, George Mason University's School of Dance is the place. Our conservatory training in a liberal arts setting comes with a rigorous curriculum of studio and theoretical study. This is enhanced by master classes and an impressive guest artist residency program that features emerging and renowned choreographers.
Welcome to the George Mason School of Dance!
We know this is a very special place and here are a few reasons why…
Talented students come from all across the country and around the world in order to train where professional and academic worlds merge. We offer conservatory training within a liberal arts setting, in one of the nation’s most diverse and international Research 1 institutions. With easy access to Washington D.C., our dancers can take advantage of all the international artistic experiences in the city, while learning and living on a modern campus in charming Fairfax City, Virginia.
We keep our classes small; this faculty-student ratio allows us to provide four years of individualized mentorship from our stellar professional faculty. We know that dance training is much more than just technique and we support and interact with our students each day.
Our vibrant guest artist residency series maintains a constant connection to the pulse of the current professional dance world. The 2,000 seat Concert Hall, just steps from our studios, means live performances and master class opportunities are frequent. We work to assure access to additional diverse techniques, perspectives, and artistic voices and enjoy interacting with the performers who visit our campus.
Our world-class facility includes 4 soaring, sun-filled studios, a conditioning lab and treatment room staffed by our full-time Athletic trainer. Dance majors perform frequently on our many stages—we understand that is where you learn best.
Explore our website and you will see that here at Mason we nurture our students as dancers, choreographers, academics, and potential leaders within our field. After that, plan your visit!
