A Life in the Field of Dance

Abbey Winiger, BFA 2023

Abbey Winiger is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Dance class of 2023. After an internship at New York City Center, she sought out a position working on the operational side of dance and landed at the American Ballet Theatre.

 

Billy Smith, BFA 2007

Billy Smith is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Dance class of 2007. Since graduation, Billy has had a fruitful career, including his years with Parsons Dance and Mark Morris Dance Group.

 

Jumana Al Rafai, BFA 2017

Jumana graduated from the School of Dance in 2017 and has gone on to live her dreams, opening Haraka Center for Movement Arts in Kuwait. Hear what skills Jumana gained from George Mason that have aided her in teaching and opening her school.

 

Daniel Puneky, BFA 2006

Meet George Mason School of Dance alumnus, Daniel Puneky. Daniel is a graduate from the class of '06. After several years as a successful dancer, Daniel ended up taking a different turn in his career going to medical school and becoming a doctor at UCLA. He insists that dance got him into medical school!

 

Da'Shown Rawl, BFA 2018

Da'Shown graduated from George Mason School of Dance in 2014. He currently teaches at Baltimore School of the Arts. In 2015 he founded RawArts Dance Company. He will be receiving his MFA from Wilson College this spring.

 

Jovick Pavajeau-Orostegui, BFA, 2020

Meet alumnus Jovick Pavajeau-Orostegui. Jovick graduated with a BFA from the School of Dance in 2020 and is now a professional artist with Rubberband Dance Group in Montreal, Canada.

Marcel Mejia, BFA, 2019

Since graduating May of 2019 Marcel has been touring with Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal as a full-time company member.
