Not a Dance Major?

Add Dance to Your Studies

Whatever your major, you can enhance your time at George Mason by adding dance to your studies. It's a wonderful way to explore the art form, and it meets a Global or Fine Arts requirement.

Whether you choose beginning ballet, modern dance, or want to learn the movement and dance of another culture, there are many classes to consider, including: Bollywood, Afro-Cuban, Jazz, Hip Hop, Afro-Latino, African, and many more.

Some non-dance majors experience the 'Rhythms of West Africa and the Caribbean' dance class with Instructor Antoinette Connell. With a deep passion for movement and storytelling, Prof. Connell fosters intercultural understanding and connection through the rhythms and energy of these rich traditions. Photo: Susan Brionez

With such a diverse student population at George Mason, it’s inspiring to see so many cultures come together to explore each other’s dances, rituals, and customs in such a fun and engaging way.

If you’re looking to deepen your appreciation for dance, consider a minor in Dance Appreciation or Global Dance! Our 200-level classes provide the perfect next step in developing your technique while broadening your understanding of movement across cultures.

Whether you're a seasoned dancer or simply want to keep dance in your life during college, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

DMV-based dance artist, educator, instructor, and K-Pop cover dancer Horizon Miguel teaches a K-Pop class, often a big draw to non-dance majors. K-Pop blends elements of hip-hop and jazz with dynamic choreography set to popular Korean pop music. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, this class offers a fun and engaging way to develop dance skills. Photo: Susan Brionez
