Biography

Originally from Portland, OR, Caroline MacDonald is a costumer, fashion designer, and former professional dancer and choreographer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from Marymount University, with minors in Sustainability and Studio Art. Most recently, she served as the Northwest School Costumer at the Washington Ballet, as well as the Design Assistant for the Wolf Trap Opera costume shop. She has also worked with Outside Designworks and Kim Schalk RTW, both in the DMV area. Prior to her design career, Caroline danced with Nevada Ballet Theatre in Las Vegas, where she choreographed 11 new works for the company, including numerous collaborations with Cirque du Soleil. In 2024 MacDonald founded her brand, Allons•y Designs, and debuted collections at DC Fashion Week and Marymount University’s Portfolio in Motion. She was the recipient of the Portfolio in Motion award and Academic Excellence Award at the Portfolio in Motion 2025 fashion show, and the NAMSBE Foundation Arthur H. Taylor Award for Excellence in Menswear at the 2024 Portfolio In Motion. She showed work at the 2024 Costume Society of America National Symposium, and Caroline's research on sustainability in fashion, Environmental and Social Concerns in Fashion Textile Production, can be found in the NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity.
