Biography
Tanner Fant is a Mississippi native who has devoted her life to advocacy through dance and the performing arts. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and minor in psychology. During her collegiate career, Tanner trained on scholarship with Giordano Dance Chicago and Visceral Dance and served as the co-director of Dance Alabama Film Festival. Upon graduation, Tanner performed internationally with Creative Studios by NCLH on Regent Seven Seas Cruises and was featured in works by Patti Wilcox, Chase Benz and Britt Stewart. She then went on to serve as Assistant Cruise Director, performing with world-renowned guest entertainers and choreographing works on the onboard entertainment team.
Her accolades include the title of Mississippi’s Distinguished Young Woman (DYW) and Top 10 at America’s DYW, 1st runner up to Miss Mississippi (Miss America Organization) and overall talent winner, and Top 100 finalist on So You Think You Can Dance.
Upon moving to the DMV area in 2023, Tanner served as the Special Events Coordinator for Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts where she played a role in planning record-breaking fundraising events for the performing arts. She also teaches creative movement and beginner dance styles in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, as well as adult dance classes in the area. Tanner has embraced the DMV’s thriving dance scene and continues to perform with local dance companies and festivals.
Tanner’s teaching and choreography experience has earned her success both nationally and internationally, and many of her former students have blooming careers in the performing arts industry. In 2011, she helped launch Let’s All Dance: a dance program for individuals with multiple abilities. Let’s All Dance has inspired programs across the southeastern United States and Belize. Tanner believes that dance is for all and strives to make dance accessible to all ages and abilities. Dance provides a creative learning path of self-discovery, discipline, and world perspective that Tanner hopes to share as an artist, performer, and teacher.
